Summer Research Fellows 2018
This year, in collaboration with Donegal Clinical Research Academy, we are hosting seven summer research fellows to undertake exciting work both within the Breast Centre North West and the Department of Surgery. Caroline McIntyre was this year’s recipient of the Professor William Campbell Scholarship. Last year Professor Campbell, from Ramelton in Donegal, made a generous donation to DCRA to foster medical research on an annual basis.
Three research fellows are being kindly funded through proceeds from last year’s Breast Ball and from Letterkenny University Hospital’s Medical Education Department. The final three research fellows are being funded as part of the emergency Surgery Outcome Advancement Programme (eSOAP) through SEUBP as part of Inter-Regional funding under the umbrella of the Centre of Personalized Medicine.
Previous research carried out in the Units has been published in international and national journals as well as having been presented at international, national and local conferences and symposiums. The research fellows are all medical students at National University Ireland (NUI) Galway and University College Dublin (UCD).
