Ms. Stephanie Vincent Recognised as an Outstanding Academic at an international level
Research work carried out at Breast Centre North West by Ms Stephanie Vincent (Research Medical Student) was a Highly Commended Entrant in The Undergraduate Awards. Her paper, entitled "The Keys to Optimising Breast Wounds-An Evidence Based Breast Wound Care Bundle to Optimise Surgical Site Infections" performed in the top 10% of all submissions in the Medical Sciences category 2017 programme; this identifies her as an outstanding academic at the international level. This year the Awards received 6432 submissions from students in 299 institutions in 47 countries.
This is the second year that one of the Research Medical Students, based in Breast Centre North West, has achieved this accolade. All students are assisted in their studies by the Research Nurse, Alison Johnston. It is through the generous donations from the community and industry that both the Medical Research Students and the Research Nurse’s positions are possible. One of the main funding events of the year is the annual North West Breast Cancer Charity Ball; this will be held on Friday 24th November 2017 in The Silver Tassie Hotel Letterkenny.
